College Forum seeks better facilities
ITANAGAR, Aug 23: Arunachal Pradesh College Forum (APCF) has submitted a two point memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding improvement of infrastructure in the colleges of the state as well removal of an Assistant Professor from his job.
The students said that they were forced to meet the Chief Minister with demands after the Education Minister Tapang Taloh failed to give any response to the memorandum submitted to him on Aug 4.
It appealed the Chief Minister to issue necessary direction to Tapang Taloh, Education Minister to sanction sufficient funds for the infrastructure development of colleges and Polytechnic colleges of the state.
It further called for termination of Dr Apurva Ranjan, an Assistant Professor currently being engaged as PRO by the Education Minister from his service and conduct an SIT enquiry. The students allege that the Education Minister Tapang Taloh is shielding Dr Apurva Ranjan by appointing him as PRO in his office.
Three injured in landslide
KOLORIANG, Aug 23: Three people, including two minors were injured and their vehicle heavily damaged after a cloud burst caused landslide near DC Office Koloriang on the way to Sarli side at around 12.30 PM today. All the injured persons have been provided with immediate relief by the administration and sent to Itanagar/ Naharlagun for further treatment.
The private vehicle of Congress leader Chera Mekia, who was behind the wheels, has been damaged badly in the landslide.
Meanwhile, the Kurung Kumey district administration pressed into service the rescue operation and managed to restore the traffic movement in between Malapu and Koloriang Township within three hours.
District administration has asked the people of the district to stay away from land slide/flood prone zones and move to safer places especially during the rainy season. Further the BRTF authority has been directed to keep their men and machinery in readiness to clear the road as and when there is a block due to incessant rainfall. DIPRO
Battered child worker rescued

The following day, Child Line approached the Child Welfare Committee, Capital Complex and the local police for rescue of the child. The joint team of Itanagar Police Station headed by SI R. Kr. Jha and Childline Itanagar headed by Coordinator J.Tangjang managed to safely rescue the child.
“We found the child in a very pathetic condition, with her hands, arm and back all swollen and also with bruises all over her body” said a rescuer.
Endangered birds rescued
ITANAGAR, Aug 23: Twenty seven parrots reported to be endangered were rescued by police at Likabali from a Aalo bound passenger vehicle which were hidden in two bags yesterday.
Later the captive birds were handed over to Kenjum Membom, Forest Range Officer Likabali Forest Range, who is also Range Officer of Kane Wild Life Sanctuary.
Later on the same day, the Range Forest Officer along with SDPO Likabali Dr. D.K. Thungon released the birds at Kane Wild Life Sanctuary.
AP Dr’s research project rated among top
ITANAGAR, Aug 23: The health research project entitled “The Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister’s Universal Health Insurance Scheme or APCMUHIS” by Dr. Nabam Peter has been rated amongst the top 12 Health Projects in India’ for the year 2015.
A jury of eminent experts has made this selection after going through a large number of nominations and over 300 presentations.

Seva Dal for resumption of CMUHIS enrollment
PASIGHAT, Aug 23: East Siang District Congress Seva Dal (DCSD) has demanded the district health authorities to instruct the company concerned for immediate resumption of the process for enrollment of beneficiaries under Chief Minister’s Universal Health Insurance Scheme (CMUHIS) in the district. According to Seva Dal Chief Organizer of the district Tapu Darang, many poor families willing to enroll themselves under the schemes have been deprived from the benefits due to sheer negligence by the Insurance Company entrusted for the purpose.
“The insurance company concerned had conducted the enrollment process not only in a hurried manner but also left the work half done,” the Seva Dal organiser said, and urged the district health department to ensure enrollment of all the left out persons in the next phase of the enrollment process.

ZIRO, Aug 23: Byoda Kiila Ane Society (BKAS) today facilitated Hage Nanya for being recognised as progressive farmer by Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, on the occasion of 69th Independence Day. AWS urges not to grant bail to culprit/s
ITANAGAR, Aug 23: Reiterating its demand against the alleged abettors in late Kenpu Dong suicide case, the Akom Welfare Society (AWS) has urged the concern authority not to grant bail to the culprit/s.
In a release, it warned of taking its own course of action against the culprit/s involved if the authority gives bail.
The authority will be held responsible if any untoward incident happen, the release further added.

Arunachal Pradesh to sign MoUs for boosting bamboo sector
ITANAGAR, Aug 23: Arunachal Pradesh will soon ink Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) and Hindustan Paper Corporation to help potential bamboo growers in the state.

"The MoU will immensely help both farmers as well as unemployed youths of the state," he said.
He informed that another MoU would also be signed between the state government and the Hindustan Paper Corporation for exporting one lakh tonne of bamboo for paper manufacturing.
"This is just a beginning. We are looking for more companies with whom we can sign MoUs for the benefit of bamboo growers and unemployed youths and enrich the state's coffer," Yora said.
If properly tapped, bamboo sector could be a money spinner for the state with a varieties of species abundantly available, Yora said adding that the Board was planning to set up small scale bamboo industries in every district where toothpicks, incense sticks, besides other usable items would be produced.
The APBRDA is contemplating to establish a bamboo shoot market for which a land of 70,000 square meters has already been allotted.
"We are also planning to set up a Bamboo Technology Park and State Bamboo Museum in the same plot," he said.
The steps taken by the Board would immensely benefit the people by spreading awareness regarding the actual benefit of bamboo plant, he said and added that the proposed MoUs would be a boon for the bamboo growers of the state. It is pertinent to mention here that since last couple of years, the APBRDA has been supplying bamboo saplings to the bamboo growers of all districts of the state.
Besides, several skill development and awareness programmes were also conducted.
"Though we have many bamboo plantations in every district, merely three small industries have been established so far which have failed to cater to the bamboo growers," Yora added.

The right abutment of the RCC Bridge is breached by Siku River every year during monsoon disrupting road communication along the route. The BRTF entrusted in reconstruction of the highway is allegedly not applying the right technology in controlling course of Siku River near Mebo town. The 1443 BRTF, is reported to have spent several crores of funds on diversion of river water during the last couple of years, but the turbulent Siku river has time and again proved the technology inefficient.
“The BRTF engineers are accustomed to arrange temporary arrangement of restoration or just plug the breached portion every time, but it has miserably failed to chalk out a permanent solution which is causing a great deal of dissatisfaction among the people. The BRTF engineers have neither chalked out an effective master plan for controlling the river course nor conducted scientific study on the natural factors in upstream of the river”, said Oling Perme, Mebo Banggo ZPM in a press statement.
Siku river, which has been eroding several acres of fertile land on its right bank, changing its course and taking its turn towards right, gripped several hectares of cropland at Ayeng village. The river has increased its size by tenfold over the last decade.

Dengue preventive measure at Roing

ROING, Aug 23: As part of continuing preventive measures and to generate public awareness against Vector Borne Diseases like Dengue, Malaria, Japanese Encephalitis etc, a team of District Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (DVBDCP) led by DVBDCO Dr. N. Yirang has been on an active survey for potential breeding places of Aedes Mosquito (a vector mosquito for spreading ‘Dengue Fever’) in Roing Township area.
According to Dr. Yirang, many places believed to be potential breeding places were identified like garages, tyre repairing centres, departmental stores etc.
"Heaps of unused tyres were found to be lying hither and thither without proper shed or storage, containing larvae of mosquitoes almost in all tyres", he said. He also informed that the matter has been informed to General Administration for appropriate action for removal of such breeding places in the township areas.
"Recent repeated outbreak of Dengue Fever in Pasighat area has caused great concern for the Health Department. As vector (mosquito) for Dengue Fever is already prevailing in the district, the disease is ready to be transmitted if virus is introduced by a human case", informed the concerned Doctor.
"It is not only the responsibility of the Health Department but it is a concern for all of us to prevent spread of Dengue fever in our district by removing all the potential breeding places of dreaded mosquitoes in and around our dwelling places. The fate of your health is in your own hands", he appealed to the citizens of the district.

Lumla ADC Mika Nyori called upon the teachers to become ideal and exemplary teachers. He exhorted them to adopt constructive means, have clear concept, maintain feasible calendar for syllabus and chapters and rise against all odds to serve the society.
“The progress of the pupils reflects the pedagogy and the dedication of the teachers”, he said.
Tawang DDSE spoke in length about the methods to enhance quality of education in the region. He also assured all possible assistance on his behalf to redress the grievances of the teaching fraternity.
Directing the teachers to do homework before taking classes and to prepare scheme and log books, he said, “Teaching is a planned activity, not an extempore activity”. “Teaching should be depth in knowledge and rich in content and the teachers should be simple, sincere, committed, kind hearted and have the quest for knowledge”, he added. Earlier, the teaching community expressed their grievances and grudges on transfer and postings, shortage of teachers and subject teachers, irregular salary, school grants and quarter maintenance etc.

"But launching a new channel also bring with it questions related to availability of manpower, viability, content," a senior official said.
According a report tabled in Parliament recently, the Standing Committee on Information Technology was informed by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry about the proposal to trifurcate the existing North East channel. The Ministry also informed the Committee that starting three channels will also be a software intensive exercise as content will be required to be customised as per requirement of a particular state.
